Competitions
Unless otherwise stated, all competitions that are advertised on the calendar page are open to junior archers! Indoors, competitions are the same for juniors and seniors. Outdoors is a bit different as juniors are not expected to shoot as far as the adults. Please click the link below for a handy guide to outdoor junior competitions
County Team
We are always on the lookout for juniors wishing to join the county team! There are a few things you can do if you want to get involved:
Come along to one of the junior shooting sessions. These sessions are run by the junior rep and are a great way to meet other juniors and find out what being on the team is all about. If you can’t make it to a junior shooting session but you still want to get involved with the team, send an email to the junior rep (juniors@lrcaa.org).
Shoot and score some rounds and submit them to the junior rep using this form. This lets us know that you are practicing and getting used to shooting full rounds. It doesn’t matter what round you shoot, just let us know how you’re doing!
Get involved with junior coaching sessions put on by the County Development Committee. We will let you know via Sport80 email when these are being organised, and more information will be posted on this page. Make sure your parents have accepted email communications from Sport80 or they won’t be told when the coaching sessions are.
Each year, the Sydney Bond regional inter-county junior competition takes place in September. This competition brings together junior archers from each of the counties within the East Midlands Archery Society (EMAS) and teams compete for the Sydney Bond trophy and regional title. Leicestershire & Rutland would like to submit a full recurve, barebow, compound, and longbow team this year! Archers on the team will be required to shoot their age-appropriate distance so make sure you’re practicing and trying out different distances at your club.
