IMPORTANT

Please let us know of
any scores you shoot during the year, as this helps in the selection of
the junior county team.
The ones we are most
interested in are the Bristol and Metric rounds that have record status,
but feel free to let us know of any others.
Some of you may feel
that you wouldn't be good enough to make this level, but the team gains
new members every year and the next one COULD
BE YOU…
2011 Sydney Bond Success!!!!
The L&RCAA Junior
Archery Team were once again victorious in the East Midlands Inter
County Team Competition. This event is the highlight of the junior
regional archery calendar with teams from Leicestershire & Rutland,
Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire all
battling to be the best.

The recurve team of
Lizzie Warner (Kirby), Amy Curnock (Melton), David Phillips (Kirby),
Lucy Colledge (Glen), Zoe Smethurst (Glen), Zak Crawford (Welland), Liam
Hannon (Kirby) and Callum Newman (Foxes) regained the prestigious Sydney
Bond Trophy to make it eight wins out of the last ten years. They
took the lead right from the first dozen and never looked back, beating
their nearest rivals (Lincolnshire) by 140 points.
Lizzie Warner was also the leading girl recurve of the tournament with a
score of 1226 (max possible = 1296).
On top of this, not only did we regain "our Syd" but he brought
a friend with him. The compound team of Georgia Ward (Welland), James
Holyland (Welland), James Passingham (Kirby) and Alex Davies (Rutland)
put in a fabulous effort to take the Bingham ceramics trophy as well.
They were chased all the way to the gold medal position by Lincolnshire,
with a final winning margin of 56 points.
Considering the windy conditions the entire L&RCAA team put in a
remarkable effort, and as team captain I couldn't be more proud of them.
L&RCAA juniors – truly a force to be afraid of….
As ever I would like to
thank the parents, supporters, clubs, coaches and a whole host of
helpers from across the county who encourage and motivate our
youngsters. You have all played a part in this magnificent victory and
you should be as proud as I am of our younger archers and their
achievements.
As a final note, this
was the last Sydney Bond shoot for Alex, Georgia, Amy and Liam who will
have joined the ranks of the seniors next year. You'll be sadly missed,
but we wish you all the best at the longer distances.

Chocolate Shoots
In a bid to get more
juniors out of their clubs and shooting in county based competitions it
was decided bribery was the best option!
Bribery in the form of CHOCOLATE.
Juniors of any level -
just completed a beginners through to county or national level - are encouraged to come along to our Chocolate shoots. The children
shoot a national round according to their age and then afterwards shoot at paper plates to win chocolate.
This is a fun event,
aimed at getting the youngsters used to shooting a competition in a
relaxed atmosphere, and allowing them the chance to get to know other juniors in the county.
A big bonding and team building time.
The shoots are FREE
- all we need is parent support.
Many members of the
Junior County Team came to notice first through the Chocolate shoots. We have an outdoor shoot in April and then three in September which leads
to the winning of a team trophy.
Details are sent to club
secretary's at the appropriate times.
Leicestershire and
Rutland Juniors have a reputation of being a very good team and
regularly beat their competitors, we are very proud of them.
If you think your
youngster has potential, get them to shoot two of the selection shoots
at the start of the outdoor season and put their scores into the Team
Captain.
Good Shooting - and
remember we want your scores.
