Leicestershire
& Rutland Junior Archery Team Triumph Again !
The L&RCAA Junior Archery Team were once again victorious in the East Midlands Inter County Team Competition. This event is the highlight of the regional archery calendar with teams from Leicestershire & Rutland, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire all battling to be the best.
The recurve team (above) of
James Mortlock (Rutland), Eddie Spouge (Birstall), Fiona Heaver(Melton),
Rebecca Lantsbery(Welland), James Kirk(Foxes), Katie Abell(LAOFAC), Zak
Crawford (Welland) and Jake O'Reilly( LAOFAC), retained the prestigious
Sydney Bond Trophy to make it six wins out of seven in recent years.
Not
to be outdone the compound team (above) of Alex and Kirsty Davies
(Rutland), Georgia Ward (Welland), James Passingham (Birstall) retained
the Bingham Ceramics Trophy with a record breaking performance. All
archers in this team scored in excess of 1200 points for the round and
Kirsty Davies established a new County & Regional Record with a
score of 1276, just 20 points short of the maximum.
The
L&RCAA team of 12 includes no less than 7 archers who have already
represented England or Great Britain and many of the other 5 are
pressing for international team status. This is an incredible
achievement for the junior archers of one county.
Our
youngsters could not reach these dizzy heights without the help and
support of their parents, their clubs, their coaches and a whole host of
helpers from across the county who encourage and motivate. To all of you
I would like to say a big thank you on behalf of all of the L&RCAA
Juniors - not just those who are in the present team but all of
those who aspire to be there.
